The Vail Valley Charitable Fund (VVCF) is a 501 (c) (3) non profit organization whose mission is to provide assistance to individuals who live and/or work in Eagle County, and are in financial crisis due to a medical catastrophe. Since its creation in 1996, the VVCF has raised and distributed several million dollars to hundreds of our local individuals and families.

As you know, even the most responsible working adult can quickly become financially disabled if they are beset with an accident, illness, or medical catastrophe due to the high cost of living in our region, the scarcity of affordable health insurance, and rising medical costs. These issues are amplified in the economic environment in which we are currently living. Families who could once navigate the financial hardship of a medical crisis can no longer make ends meet.

The VVCF helps out in two ways. Through a comprehensive application process, the VVCF awards direct aid grants to people in need. Applications are reviewed and recipients are determined monthly by the VVCF Board of Directors. These one time grants range up to $5,000 and may help an individual or family with medical or non medical necessities.

When an individual’s financial need exceeds the maximum grant, the VVCF also partners, supports, and assists with fundraising events for the benefit of specific individuals with the help of that person’s friends and associates. The funds that are raised are directed as a grant to the recipient.

Proceeds raised through the Evans Chaffee Kickball Classic will be restricted by the VVCF to assist families with young children suffering from acute and chronic illnesses. These families are at particular risk, as accessing treatment and providing ongoing care for young children impacts the earning potential and job stability of both parents. With a growing population of young families in Eagle County, the need for such assistance is increasing dramatically.
